BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The MBTA has responded to the voices of those who have been pushing for a more friendly rider experience by adding googly eyes to their trains.

The T said that riders can expect to see googly eyes mounted on five of their trains.

“We just took the T, I didn’t see any googly eyes, but I would love to see [them], I think it’s a great idea!” said one rider.

The googly eyes movement goes back to April, when protesters marched from Boston Common to MBTA offices at Park Plaza asking for the T to add them to the fronts of trains.

WBZ NewsRadio spoke to people outside of Park Street Station who supported the googly eyes movement, but the majority said that they would rather have trains that are on time instead.

“I really could not care less, I’d rather they [just] fix the T,” said another rider.

Other riders still do see the benefits of googly eyes on the T, just to spread a little joy and happiness all around.

“I think it’s great, I don’t take the train all that much, but when I do, I’ve been lucky with it," said another rider.

Another concern amongst riders is that in addition to trains that are more punctual, they want a T that is fully repaired, whether googly eyes are involved or not.
