BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Museum of Ice Cream opened its new location in Boston Seaport on Saturday.

The building is 12,300 square feet and has two floors, consisting of many attractions based on the ice cream theme.

First, guests will give themselves an ice cream-inspired name before exploring the museum’s exhibits.

Next, they can ride on the Creamliner, an orange creamsicle airplane, which travels to Citrus City, along with some vanilla soft serve handed out by the flight attendants.

Another room to explore is the Cookie Living Room, with cookie-themed décor and surprises like ringing a bell to make an ice cream sandwich appear from a spinning spot in the wall.

Other exhibits include the Fun Way Park carnival room, the Hall of Freezers, and a diner where guests can get sundaes and cocktails alike.

These attractions lead to a giant slide that drops guests into a pool filled with giant sprinkles.

Of course, there was no shortage of different flavors of ice cream at the museum, with even some odd ones leaning towards the Boston audience like Lobster ice cream.

Almond, General Manager of the museum who only went by his ice cream name, said that they strived to break from the typical museum mold.

“You think about a museum, you think about quiet and you can’t touch, can’t take photos, can’t interact, and so we wanted to throw that all away, bring it back to being a kid, having fun,” Almond said. “You get to touch, you get to interact, you get to taste, you get to smell, and it brings out the inner kid, it’s a playground for everyone.”
