PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Northern Lights put on a dazzling display across the Massachusetts sky on Thursday night.

WBZ NewsRadio spoke to people in Plymouth who caught the spectacle.

“I never thought in my wildest dreams that we would see it here,” said a Plymouth resident.

The appearance of the Aurora Borealis was a rare occurrence on the South Shore. Usually, people will have to head into Northern New England to catch this rare sighting.

For Don from Carver, the light show made him reflect.

“It also makes you think about the people thousands of years ago looking back and seeing the Northern Lights,” said Don.

Plymouth Harbor was a prime viewing location for the Northern Lights, which illuminated the sky as far as the eye could see.

“I think it makes you think of stuff that’s bigger than you, bigger than us,” added Don. He even let his kids stay up past their bedtime.

“It’s something special, and everybody can enjoy it,” said Don.

Spectators described the show as nothing but extraordinary, with vibrant and florescent colors.

People also took to social media to share their photos from the magical experience.

“And [the photos] are amazing!” added another.
