BRIGHTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — City, state, and federal lawmakers appeared at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new J.J. Carroll House in Brighton Monday.
The Boston Housing Authority (BHA) and 2Life Communities partnered together for the redevelopment, which transformed the 64 aging housing units on Chestnut Hill Avenue into 142 brand new, affordable apartments for seniors.
The Carroll House also includes an 11,000 square foot PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) center on the first floor operated by Element Care.
An enclosed pedestrian bridge connects residents to the rest of the programs and services that 2Life offers on its Brighton campus.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said the partnership between the BHA and 2Life runs deep, making sure residents cannot be forced out because of aging or increased fragility.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Ayanna Pressley also expressed gratitude for the new housing.
"Housing is health, housing is dignity, housing is community, housing is peace of mind," Pressley said.
