PROVIDENCE, RI. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police released new surveillance video Monday afternoon of a person of interest in the deadly shooting over the weekend at Brown University in Providence, R.I.

Two people were killed and nine others were injured after a shooter opened fire in a classroom at the Barus and Holley engineering and physics building Saturday afternoon.

Authorities initially had detained a person of interest over the weekend, but they were released overnight Sunday into Monday. The search for a shooter has resumed.

Authorities anyone with any information to contact their tip center or call 401-272-3121.

Initial surveillance video released by police shows the suspect, dressed in black, calmly walking away from the scene. His face is not visible and investigators said it wasn't clear whether the suspect is a student.

The suspect was last seen leaving the engineering building and some witnesses told police the suspect, who could be in his 30s, may have been wearing a camouflage mask, Providence Police Deputy Chief Timothy O’Hara said.

The victims killed in the shooting have been identified as students Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov. Cook was a sophomore from Birmingham, according to Alabama Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth.

"Ella was a devoted Christian and a committed conservative who represented the very best of Alabama. A bright future was ended much too soon," Ainsworth wrote in a post on X.

Umurzokov was an 18-year-old freshman. His sister told the Associated Press that he was helping a friend study for an economics final at the time of the shooting.

In a post on Facebook, the American Uzbekistan Association said Umurzokov was "known for his sharp intellect, kind heart, and quiet willingness to help anyone in need."

"He carried himself with humility and compassion, earning the respect and affection of those around him. His curiosity, discipline, and generosity reflected both his character and the values of the community that raised him," the post said.
