BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — If you've ever gone for a stroll or a bike ride down the Esplanade before, you've probably run into the gaggles of Canadian geese that call it home.

The geese have called the Esplanade home for years and they like to defend their territory, either by getting aggressive with people or by blocking walkways and bike paths, much to the dismay of the thousands of people that walk along the Charles River each day.

"They're mean," one passerby said when asked about what they thought about the geese. "They definitely don't like people."

WBZ's Matt Shearer (@MattWBZ) went to the Esplanade to confront the geese about their behavior and even tried to live among them to understand why they do what they do.
