BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The annual Pre-Race Dinner was held at Boston City Hall, on the eve of the Boston Marathon. Runners, and their friends and family, came to feast on pasta the night before the big event. Thousands of people attended.
Boston Athletic Association President Michael O’Leary said recruiting volunteers for the dinner has never been a problem.
“We turn away 2 or 3 thousand volunteers every year. We have many more people who want to be involved,” O’Leary said.
Companies donate the food, including 800 pounds of meatballs, another 800 pounds of sausage, 4,000 pounds of pasta, and all the trimmings to complete a carb-filled feast.
