ACTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A big name vodka brand got its hands dirty Friday to help keep Stonefield Farm in Acton thriving.
Tito's Handmade Vodka teamed up with Boston Area Gleaners to revamp the farm as part of the Love, Tito's Block to Block program, which works with local non-profits to create green spaces and make fresh food more accessible.

Tito's employees have worked with Boston Area Gleaners in the past to help package surplus food at Stonefield Farm, but a lot more went into Friday's collaboration.
"New soil on the farm field to improve drainage, add some compost, we’ve planted cover crop, and now we’re rebuilding the perimeter wall, so that next year or hopefully the year after it can go back and be a production field," Boston Area Gleaners Executive Director Usha Thakrar told WBZ NewsRadio.
Thakrar said these volunteer opportunities are all about connecting people with their food.
"You go to the grocery store, you buy a head of lettuce. Most people don’t really think about where the lettuce came from or how it’s grown or what the potential challenges are in making that happen," Thakrar said.
Tito's Northeast Field Sales Manager Victoria Lewis said they decided to help rebuild the centuries old rock wall because they wanted to leave a lasting impression on the farm.
"They said it will be a really transformation project for them that hopefully will be there another hundred years," Lewis said.
