BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — As Massachusetts residents hunkered down amid a stay at home advisory, Tom Brady gave his first press conference as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer.
The former Patriot, who officially signed with the Buccaneers on Friday, joined reporters on a conference call at noon, and fans were able to listen in to the question-and-answer session.
The call marked the first time Brady spoke publicly about his decision to leave New England after an illustrious 20-year career.
"This is an exciting moment for me in my life, entering something very unique to me, the first time this is happening in 20 years, so I'm just taking it day by day," Brady said. "I look forward to meeting all my teammates and just doing all I can for us to achieve what we set out to."
One thing Brady didn't do, though, was say very much about his time with the Patriots, or his decision to leave.
Brady expressed his admiration for Tampa Head Coach Bruce Arians, saying he makes "everyone better."
"I have a ton of trust and respect for Coach Arians, for Jason and what he's done to build the organization," he said.
As for the pandemic currently affecting the wide world of sports, Brady said he wasn't going to let it keep him from being prepared for the season.
"Understanding the circumstances of what we're dealing with, we're going to have to adjust, that's what happens in football as in life," Brady said.
