ANDOVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Columbia Gas is making the rounds in the Merrimack Valley as the company continues to replace appliances destroyed during September’s gas explosions.
Columbia Gas Chief Operating Officer Mark Kempic spoke to those who were affected by the explosions during a meeting in Andover on Saturday. Now, appointments are being scheduled.
“We weren’t able to schedule appointments because of the sheer volume. We needed to get people back in service before it got cold. Now, we have more time. It’s warm outside; people don’t need their heating equipment. So, we’re scheduling individual appointments — even on Saturdays, even sometimes after five, whatever the customer needs so we get it in on their terms, on their schedule rather than just forcing the issue,” Kempic said.
Columbia Gas Reaches $80 Million Settlement In Merrimack Valley Disaster
Earlier this month, Columbia Gas agreed they would pay $80 million to Andover, North Andover, and Lawrence to repair the damages.
On Saturday, it was revealed that the road replacement, covered by the settlement, would be done by the three municipalities. The state road replacements would be done by Columbia Gas.
