WORCESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A tornado watch is in effect across a large swath of New England.
The National Weather Service has issued the watch for most of Massachusetts, southwestern Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, northern Connecticut, and northern Rhode Island.
A few tornadoes, scattered hail up to ping pong size, and scattered wind gusts up to 70 mph are likely.
The tornado watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Sunday.
Thunderstorms are also expected northwest of I-95 Sunday afternoon with the threat of heavy rain, strong, damaging winds, and flooding.
