BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A 53-year-old tortoise is in need of a new home after her owner died of COVID-19.
"Ms. Jennifer," who is now being cared for at the MSPCA in Boston, is said to weigh four pounds and is the size of a "large dinner plate," according to a statement from the shelter.
At 53 years old, Ms. Jennifer is only considered middle-aged, as tortoises can live up to 100.
Ms. Jennifer is the tenth animal to be sent into the MSPCA's care due to COVID-19 complications, including owners dying from coronavirus, being too sick to take care of their pets, or struggling financially.
Those interested in adopting Ms. Jennifer are encouraged to email adoption@mspca.org.
