Toys For Tots Making Deliveries To Kids In Need During COVID-19 Crisis

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — According to Marine Corps Lt. General James Laster, President of the Toys For Tots program, U.S. Marines are not only the first to fight.

"We can also be the first to render a hand and to help," said Lt. General Laster. "Especially to less fortunate children here in our nation during this time of need."

Thousands of Marines volunteer every December to donate gifts to deserving children with Toys For Tots. During these unprecedented times, Lt. General Laster told WBZ NewsRadio the program's volunteers are going to spread some Christmas joy in April.

"We thought that maybe we could do something with our carry-over inventory that we had stored in a warehouses from this past Christmas, to get toys and books and games out to children now instead of waiting for next Christmas."
