REVERE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – A rotary in Revere was closed after a tractor-trailer rollover crash Wednesday morning.

Emergency personnel responded to a call just after 4:30 a.m. that the truck had rolled over and crashed at the entrance of the Sunoco gas station in Brown Circle. The tractor-trailer was carrying approximately 10,000 gallons of heating oil.

Massachusetts State Police said in a statement the truck crashed due to an issue with the vehicle's braking system. The truck reportedly rolled over onto its right side after entering the rotary.

This left all the compartments in the oil tank punctured. Almost all of the 10,000 gallons were spilled.

U.S. Coast Guard Crews are working to clean up the spilled fuel from the surrounding areas using special materials designed to absorb petroleum products from nearby water. They also used a vacuum truck to suck up the oil-filled water.

Brown Circle has since reopened.
