Traffic Signal Troubles In Hyde Park

HYDE PARK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A reconstruction project that is not quite finished is causing some safety concerns in Hyde Park.

The intersection at Milton Street and Hyde Park Avenue has cars, semi-trucks, and pedestrians trying to navigate the intersection on their own due to the fact that its traffic signals are still not synchronized.

"It's very hard when the car is coming from the other side, because the people, they don't give you a chance to cross," one woman said.

The Boston Transportation Department said the project, which started about a year ago, should wrap up this fall as the city needs to continue with the permitting process. They also need to coordinate with local utilities, such as Eversource and Verizon, to synchronize the signals.

The department added that while signals remain on flash operation, police enforce traffic violations in the area.
