BOSTON, (WBZ NewsRadio) — For many, Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer and the first long weekend of the season. Since the big weekend is coming up in just two weeks, WBZ NewsRadio caught up with some to see how they plan to spend the weekend and holiday.
“I will not be in Boston!” said one resident who is hoping to escape the crowds.
“I’d rather avoid [the crowds],” said another.

On the contrary, there are those who do not mind the crowds and have plans to just stay put for the long weekend and take it all in.
“You know I kind of like the tourists, it’s nice to see the city get lively, so I kind of enjoy it myself,” said one Boston resident.
For others, they don’t see the logic in travelling for the long weekend because wherever you may go to, there will be no escaping the crowds.
“Why drive somewhere in traffic, to get somewhere where there it’s going to be busy too!” said another Boston resident.
Meanwhile, AAA is expecting an additional one-million people to hit the roads for a long-distance trip as compared to 2019, according to data.
