BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Unusual is a word that's been used a lot over the past few weeks when describing the weather in Boston.

From random chilly days in April to rained-out weekends in May, the forecast in Boston has been far from predictable. That's why several locals are trying to get as far away from the upcoming and unusual nor-easter as quickly as possible before Memorial Day.

"It's actually funny, I was supposed to go tonight and I saw the storm and I was like earliest flight out, I gotta get out of here," said Halley before her flight to Minneapolis. "It's looking like 60 and sunny because they had rain for the past three days. So I'm very excited to not be here for whatever is coming."

Last year, Memorial Day weekend felt different in Boston. With highs reaching 79 degrees and lows hitting 63 degrees, residents basked in the beautiful weather. This year, locals are seeking the sunshine elsewhere.

"Traveling to Florida. It's like it's back to winter up here in Boston but it should be nice and sunny in Florida," said one traveler.

For those who can't escape the cold and rain, pull out your coats and umbrellas because you can expect rainstorms with highs of 67 degrees and lows of 47 degrees leading into Memorial Day.
