BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The potential federal government shutdown could affect travelers at Boston Logan and other airports.
TSA agents and air-traffic controllers are considered essential workers, unlike some other federal jobs, which means during a federal shutdown they would continue to work without pay.
There are concerns that a prolonged federal shutdown could lower morale among employees and may cause some to stop showing up for work. That could lead to longer lines, wait times, and flight delays.
Katrina and Anthony of Norwood, traveling to go on their honeymoon, did not seem happy about the potential effect a shutdown could have on their trip.
"Very time consuming, I don't want to wait in lines, I'd much rather get to my gate and go," Anthony said.
"Exactly what you want to do, stand in lines when you're on your honeymoon right?" Katrina joked.
Fred, another traveler at Logan, said he hopes "the government's going to stay open and do its job."
