Truck Crash In Salisbury Kills Bicyclist Friday Night, Police Investigate

SALISBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A bicyclist in Salisbury has died after being hit by a pick-up truck late Friday night.

According to Salisbury Police Chief Thomas Fowler, the crash involved one vehicle striking a pedestrian on Folly Mill Road.

Police said they responded to the call at 11:16 p.m. and upon arrival, determined that the pedestrian was riding a bicycle when she was struck by a pick-up truck that was towing a small camper. The bicyclist, identified as Rebecca Bartczak of Amesbury, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the camper following the vehicle dislodged after the crash, police said. The driver allegedly left the scene, the truck was located in Kensington, New Hampshire by Hampton Falls police a half hour later.

The case remains under investigation by the Salisbury Police Department, State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, N.H State Police and the Essex County District Attorney's Office.
