BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is reminding travelers to store all rechargeable devices containing lithium-ion batteries in carry-on luggage.
That includes laptops, tablets, cellphones and electric toothbrushes.
“If something does catch fire and nobody’s [going to] know about it,” Claire, who’s flying out of Logan Airport, told WBZ NewsRadio. “it’ll be a little too late.”
She said that she pretty much stored all her important items in her carry-on.
Her sister Denise added that more people are only using carry-on bags “especially now with every airline charging for checked bags.”
According to TSA, there are not quantity limits on how many items but “larger lithium-ion batteries and spare non spillable wet batteries are limited to two per person.”
Toothbrushes powered by alkaline or AA batteries are exempt from the guidelines.
