BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — An iconic diner in Allston is preparing to serve its last meal.

Twin Donuts announced that it will be closing its doors for good on March 24. After opening in the 1950s and going through several different ownerships, the landmark diner will be serving up its last comfort foods on March 23. The announcement has shaken long-time customers.

“It’s really hard to describe,” said Al.

“It’s shocking and they provide a great service, I’ll tell you that, so I’m sad to hear it,” said Jack.

Woo Taing and his family have owned the donut shop and diner for about 25 years. He said it’s getting too expensive to operate in this neighborhood.

“Ever since COVID, things haven’t been the same,” said Taing. “Everybody is getting priced out, so a lot of our regulars have moved on to other places, like our other locations at Brighton Café and Café Mirror. They all moved out of Allston because it’s kind of getting expensive around here.”

His family said it has been an “honor and privilege” to serve the community the past quarter century.

“We tried to provide them with the best customer care and service, [and tried] to provide them with quality food and everything,” said Taing. “We’re going to miss everything. It’s still hitting me pretty hard.”
