BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Two people were arrested after crashing a stolen vehicle into construction equipment and a delivery truck in Boston's West End Thursday afternoon.

Massachusetts State Police said the incident happened around 12:40 p.m. in the area of Merrimack Street and New Chardon Street. A trooper attempted to stop a 2021 Toyota Venza that was reported stolen from New Bedford. The driver did not stop and police said they did not attempt a pursuit.

The Toyota, which a witness said was driving at a high rate of speed, crashed into a backhoe on Merrimack Street a few moments later. Pieces of the vehicle also flew into the back of a delivery truck. The driver of the truck was not with the vehicle at the time and was not injured.

State police said no one was injured in the crash.

New Bedford residents Kenny Gedeon and Curtis Monteiro, both 20, were placed under arrest. Charges are still pending.
