Two Cars Crash Into Nearby Buildings In South Boston

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston firefighters assisted with two separate incidents of vehicles crashing into buildings in South Boston over the weekend.

According to the Boston Fire Department, the first crash happened Friday at 1 a.m. at the intersection of West Broadway and Dorchester Streets, where a white BMW had crashed into an exterior wall at McGoo's Pizzeria.

BFD's Technical Rescue units were called to put up a temporary support load-bearing column in place, in order to "shore up" the building. Six residents were displaced by the accident, and the driver was transported by Boston EMS.

Firefighters then responded Saturday night to reports of another car into a building, about half a mile away from the first incident. The driver of a silver Honda had crashed into a residential building at 614 East Third Street in South Boston.

BFD said the second driver was also transported by Boston EMS, and all utilities to the building were immediately shut off.

A structural engineer from Boston's Inspectional Services Department was called in to assist, and a total of 17 residents were displaced by the crash.
