Two Dead After Crash In Mendon, Car Sent Into Nearby Pond

MENDON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Two people are dead following a two-car crash in Mendon on Friday night, one of which first responders found submerged in Nipmuc Pond.

According to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office, the accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. Friday night on Route 16 along Uxbridge Road. Officials say that the two victims in the incident were passengers of the car that went into the pond.

As a precaution, the driver of the other vehicle involved was brought to a hospital, but officials say the individual is in stable condition.

The cause of the crash is under a joint investigation by the Mendon Police Department, State Police assigned to the D.A.'s office and the Massachusetts State Police. Officials say they are not releasing the identities of the victims until their family is notified.

There has been no arrest made in connection to the incident, police say.
