Two Firefighters Injured In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Two firefighters were injured and at least three residents have been displaced after a house fire broke out in Springfield late Saturday night.

According to Springfield Fire Department, the two-alarm fire started on the second floor of a multi-family home on Plainfield Street at around 10:30 p.m.

A short time later, fire officials said the blaze had spread to the attic, and reported one person who may have been "trapped in the basement."

By the early hours of Sunday morning, SFD said the flames had been extinguished, all occupants were accounted for, and two firefighters had been injured.

While there has been no update on their conditions, according to Western Mass News, the firefighters' injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Springfield Arson And Bomb Squad is investigating.
