BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – The Commonwealth is home to two of the best universities in the world.
Harvard University and The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) took the first and second spots of the 2022 U.S. News & World Report Rankings list.
The list compiles the world’s top 1,750 universities with institutions coming from the United States as well as over 90 other countries.

Harvard received a perfect score of 100 to clench the top spot while MIT garnered 97.5 points to land just behind. The scoring method is based off 13 metrics including research reputation, number of publications and how often the university is cited in research.
Other Massachusetts schools to land on the list included Boston University (#65), UMass Amherst (#148), Northeastern University (#176), Tufts University (#198), Brandeis University (#320) UMass Boston (#417), Boston College (#625) UMass Dartmouth (#1,035), UMass Lowell (#1,141) and Worchester Polytechnic Institute (#1,358).
