Two Massachusetts Hikers Found Dead In Arcadia National Park

BAR HARBOR, Maine (WBZ NewsRadio) — Two Massachusetts hikers were found dead after apparently falling about 100 feet along ice-covered cliff bands.

Officials said Saturday that the hikers were on Dorr Mountain at Arcadia National Park in Maine.

After family members reported them overdue and the hikers missed their hotel check out Friday afternoon, the search began.

On Friday evening, rescue crews started to search for the 28-year-old man and 30-year-old woman from Rutland, Massachusetts.

According to the National Park Service, the woman had told a family member over the phone that she was interested in hiking Cadillac Mountain.

On Saturday morning, the park staff and volunteers did a search and found the bodies.

The names of the two hikers have not been released.
