BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Patients and staff members at the Dana-Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic were surprised by special visitors on Thursday.

Celtics team icon Lucky the Leprechaun brought the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy to the outpatient clinic, just days after the team’s Banner 18 ceremony.

“It’s one of those things where we look at these kids every day and we’re like ‘what can we do to sort of give that extra little bit of joy?’” Lisa Scherber, director of the patient and family programs, told WBZ NewsRadio.

Kids took turns holding and posing with the trophy and Lucky.

Liv, a patient, said seeing the trophy in real life was a crazy experience that will sure make her brother jealous.

Another patient, Hannah, took pictures while holding the trophy was surprised by the weight of it. “It’s super cool, super heavy,” she said. “I feel important.”

Scherber said that this surprise was "just pure magic" for the kids.

“Sometimes, it just takes little things to sort of change their day, and these kids are never going to forget this day,” she added.
