MELROSE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Saturday, a United States Postal Service letter carrier was making deliveries in the area of Orchard Lane in Melrose when two individuals approached and robbed the employee at gunpoint in broad afternoon daylight.
According to the USP Inspection Service, the thieves flashed weapons to the postal worker and fled on foot after robbing the victim. The incident is under a joint investigation between the Melrose Police Department and the USPIS— an agency that released residential video surveillance of two suspects dressed in black arriving to and fleeing the crime scene.
Officials say a reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

The crime of armed robbery against a USPS employee classifies as a federal offence and can carry a jail sentence of up to 25 years, officials said.
