Vegetables Recalled Over Listeria Risk

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The company Growers Express is recalling several brands of vegetables due to the possibility they could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall includes butternut squash, cauliflower, zucchini, and butternut squash-based bowl products sold under the brand names Trader Joe's, Green Giant Fresh, Growers Express, and Signature Farms.

The FDA said most of the affected products fall within the "Best If Used By" dates of June 26-29. Customers who bought any of the products in that date range are asked to throw them away.

"We take issues of food safety seriously and have issued a voluntary recall of select fresh vegetable products in abundance of caution and in the interest of protecting our customers and end consumers," Growers Express said on their website, adding that no illnesses have been reported.
