Veterans Honored At Andover Farm On Sunday

ANDOVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Congressman Seth Moulton joined war veterans for the 2019 Day of Service at Ironstone Farm in Andover on Sunday.

At the event, veterans were honored with the fourth annual Rev. Peter J. Gomes Award.

Moulton explained to WBZ NewsRadio why he attended the event.

“Because we’re here to honor service in our community,” Moulton said. “It’s so important, especially at a time of great political division around the country. We’ve got to recognize that ordinary Americans are making things happen every single day.”

The farm is also a place where veterans can come for therapy with horses. There are 35 horses on the property.

“Ironstone is incredible,” Moulton said. “So, here’s this farm that has taken on a mission of bringing vets together with horses. Because as it turns out, it helps them a lot. Horses have an incredible ability to mirror emotions that people are feeling.”
