SALEM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Salem man has turned himself in after video footage broadcast on social media shows him allegedly stealing a package off a Cabot St. home's front porch.
Salem Police Captain Fred Ryan says there has been a rash of porch pirating this week in Salem.
On Wednesday, video surveillance captures the suspect getting out of a Jeep Liberty's passenger side, sauntering up to the front porch, taking a package, then climbing back in the vehicle before taking off.
Police credit the video with helping identify the suspect who they say is wanted in other similar cases. They also say there is another suspect involved in the Salem thefts.
The suspect told police that a lot of people were able to identify him through the video that has been making the rounds on social media.
