HYDE PARK, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Dorchester woman is receiving treatment after she fell through a now-condemned porch and landed on a car Friday.
According to WBZ-TV, a neighbor's doorbell camera caught footage of the woman in her late 20's falling through the staircase and wooden railings of a house on River Street, as a step broke off underneath her.
As WBZ-TV reports, neighbor Ariel Davis said the woman who fell had bruises, and her clothes were ripped. She said residents had previously warned the landlord the porch wasn't safe.
"My aunt said that she told [the landlord] about it, and she was like, ‘Use the front door. We’ll fix it when we can fix it’ type thing," Davis said.
Inspectional Services said the porch has been condemned until the landlord hires a licenses structural engineer to ensure it gets up to code.
"I would say it’s up to the management companies, owners to maintain these buildings for the occupants, and sometimes they let it go and this is what happens," a responding firefighter told WBZ-TV. "Fortunately, this victim today wasn’t killed. I don’t know the extent of her injuries, but it could’ve been worse."
The woman who fell was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover.
