BROCKTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Violence continues to be a growing problem at Brockton High School without a resolution in sight. Teachers and school officials have remarked that there is a safety risk for staff and students because of the violence taking place. Over the past weeks, there have been several school committee meetings to try to solve the problem.
These violent incidents come after a teacher’s arm was broken in December 2022 when trying to break up a fight. In the new year, school administrators are still struggling to find ways to reduce violence in schools. According to the Boston Globe, “the discipline problems are associated with a range of factors, from a lack of Black educators to continuing mental health repercussions from the pandemic.”
The next school committee meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on March 5.
