Virtual Tour Of Wuhan, China To Be Held From Cape Cod Home

CAPE COD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The CEO of a travel company will be leading a tour of Wuhan, China — the original epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak — from his home on Cape Cod Thursday night.

Stephen Oddo is CEO of Walks, a company that leads walking tours in Europe and the United States. But, the business model has shifted now that most people are staying at home.

The virtual tour will start at 7 p.m. It will be moderated by Oddo, and led by an English teacher in Wuhan.

He said the tour will not focus on COVID-19, but instead on the city's landmarks, culture, and history.

"I thought it was important to highlight the place in a different light because I think there's been a pretty uninformed light shown on the city," Oddo said. "And it was a good opportunity to try to see it from a different perspective, from the eyes of an actual local."

The tour will be conducted through a multimedia presentation — a mix of videos, maps, and information.

"We can connect to more people and travelers who don't have the opportunity to travel, or can't travel, and still kind of tell stories in a way that's engaging and immersive," Oddo added.

Tickets for the tour are $10.
