BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Baker Administration is trying to make it easier to book a COVID-19 vaccination appointment by implementing some changes to the online booking process.
Massachusetts' Health and Human Services Secretary Marylou Sudders said during an interview with CBSN Friday the state's vaccine booking website will soon include a virtual "waiting room," where people can enter their personal information while temporarily holding an appointment.
"One of the things that we are absolutely committed to doing is changing the process," Sudders said, "so that you can sort of hold the appointment, if you would, while you’re putting in that personal information."
According to WBZ-TV, the state also plans to add a clock to the appointment booking page, which would show how long someone has left to book the appointment before it's released, much like buying concert tickets online.
"[This] would make it hopefully less stressful to individuals," Sudders said, "because we truly understand how stressful this past year has been."
Sudders said other adjustments implemented by the state, like the companion system and the 211 helpline, have worked well in getting residents aged 75 and older to mass vaccination sites.
