BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — There’s no religion or politics, just walking and talking.

An event in Brighton is giving men, young and old, the chance to branch out and build new relationships.

Matt Ciccone is ready to start the Boston chapter of ‘Walking Talking Men,’ a group walk where men will speak about their lives and interests while walking. The movement started in New York, with a goal of creating friendships between men.

Ciccone brought the walk to Boston intending to stop male loneliness, something he said is on the rise.

“If you look at statistics of Gen Z, young adults, not just men, but also women, loneliness is on the rise everywhere,” said Ciccone. “It’s really to combat that, but also keep it so low pressure.”

Ciccone will gather a group to walk around the Chestnut Hill reservoir every Friday at 5:30 P.M. beginning this Friday. The event has become so popular that Ciccone said wives have even reached out to get their husbands involved.

Walking and talking about anything from movies to daily life, men of all ages are welcomed and encouraged, something that Ciccone wants to make clear.

“Old, young, sometimes older guys have a lot to give. I think they have a lot of wisdom and just life experience that I think is beautiful,” said Ciccone. “If you identify as a man, show up. If you’re a trans man, show up. If you identify as a guy, absolutely show up, you’re welcome.”
