BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Members of Massachusetts' Congressional delegation heavily criticized President Trump's decision to pull troops from Syria, which the White House announced late Sunday night.

After U.S. forces withdrew from northeastern Syria, Turkey launched a military offensive against the Kurdish forces there—the same forces that previously fought alongside U.S. troops against ISIS.

On Twitter, Sen. Elizabeth Warren said Trump's decision betrayed Kurdish allies and would allow ISIS to regroup.

Sen. Ed Markey said the decision follows a pattern of Trump appeasing another "brutal tyrant" in the Middle East, in this case Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Rep. Joe Kennedy warned the situation threatened U.S. national security.

Rep. Seth Moulton said Turkey's invasion was the result of "reckless" action by Trump.
