EASTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — State officials Wednesday warned consumers not to drink water bottled by Simpson Spring Company in Easton.
Department of Public Health officials said the water tested positive for excessive levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS.
"Current scientific research suggests that exposure to certain PFAS may lead to adverse health outcomes," DPH said in a press release.

DPH tested Simpson Spring water in February and March. Both tests proved the contamination, officials said.
Inspectors said they documented "sanitary violations" at the company during their tests. They issued Simpson Spring a cease-and-desist order.
On March 1, 2024, Simpson Spring agreed to "cease bottling operations and disconnect its vending machines" until the contamination was cleared, according to the DPH press release.
DPH advised consumers to pour Simpson Spring bottled water down a drain and to recycle the bottles.
"Do not buy or consume new products from Simpson Spring until further notice," officials said.
