WATERTOWN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's a claim that not even Bill Belichick can match: 700 career wins. That's the record of Watertown Field Hockey coach Eileen Donahue, according to the team's social media channels.
Donahue has been the coach of Watertown Hockey for 36 seasons, notching an unbelievable 700 wins, 34 losses, and 36 ties — a 90% win percentage. Donahue reached that record with the team's win over Wakefield on Thursday.
The town has the best field hockey win streak in the country, with 184 wins in a row, and has brought 18 MIAA championships to the town, according to the Boston Globe. The team said Donahue is one of only seven coaches nationally to reach 700 wins, and the only one in Massachusetts.
"She has put so much into this program and we are endlessly grateful for all she does," the team said. Donahue was inducted into the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2019.
