WATERTOWN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Watertown Mall is under new ownership and will remain a shopping center for the foreseeable future.
After plans for the mall to be developed into another facility fell through, the new owners have vowed to keep it the way it is.
Some Watertown residents are thrilled by this news, as many see the mall as an essential place to shop.
“It’s really useful to people who live here,” one shopper said.
“We need a couple more shopping centers over here, that’d be cool,” another shopper said.

Baha, who runs a key-making kiosk, explained that, beyond the Target, activity at the mall has been modest, and he hopes that this announcement will boost activity in the mall.
“The mall is a bit slow,” Baha said. “If they keep this place as a mall so we have business here, it’s good for us.”
The new owners have said that stores have been performing and that there are already plans to upgrade signage and storefronts.
