BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — This weekend’s snow and freezing rainstorm has created icy skating rink-like conditions on sidewalks across Boston.
WBZ NewsRadio stopped by Dorchester’s Upham’s Corner neighborhood on Tuesday to see the slick spots that remained.
“It is a little bit icy in some parts,” said resident Marcos. He was trying to maintain his balance to navigate the walk from his apartment to the street.
“As you can see there’s a little slope there so, you have to be careful,” he said.
However, for Marcos and his friend Felipe who walk to work every morning, this is nothing unusual for them.
“There’s nothing you can do about it,” Felipe said.
“Most [streets] are clear now I will say that” Carl added.

While cleaning up the city is a collaborative effort between property owners and snow removal crews to ensure safety, many agree that it can be frustrating.
“I don’t want to have an accident you know?” Felipe added.
“Public Works crews and city contractors mobilize to ensure that our roads, hills, bridges, and bus routes are treated and safe for travel,” the Boston Public Works department said in a statement to WBZ NewsRadio.
“Residents and businesses owners are responsible for clearing snow, slush, and ice from sidewalks and pedestrian ramps that abut their property within three hours of snowfall ending, or three hours after sunrise if it snows overnight,” the statement continued.
City officials also said Boston has not had any salt/ice melt supply issues with their vendors.
Boston’s forecast for over the next week will not allow too much melting, with another one to three inches of fresh snow expected for Thursday.
