WELLESLEY, Mass. (WBZ News Radio) – Firefighters rescued a deer that was trapped on the ice Friday morning in Wellesley. The animal was stuck on the ice unable to get up on Lake Waban in town.
Firefighters say that the deer was trapped for hours and was unable to get to shore on its own. Drone images posted online by the department showed the deer sprawled out on its stomach with its four legs at its sides unable to get up.
Rescue crews suited up, and entered into the water, creating a path behind them for the deer to be able to get itself out of the water.
The deer was rescued, warmed up, and is being monitored by a Wellesley Animal Control Officer.
