WELLESLEY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — 14-year-old Caden Schnitman was fed up with the lack of snow in recent winters, so he decided to take matters into his own hands.

"I've been making snow for the past two years. This is my first year of really making snow," Caden told WBZ NewsRadio Tuesday.

The eighth grader at Dedham Country Day School built his own snow machine to bring the flakes to his front yard.

"It’s pretty grassy snow, but I was skiing here for the past two days, so the more you ski, the more it gets packed down," Caden said.

As a member of the Sugarbush Freeski Team in Vermont, Caden began creating his own snow to get more practice time at home.

"It’s fun and it fills me with happiness," he described.

Caden already has big plans for next winter, improving his snow machine and the mini snow ramp he built to gather speed.

"Next year I plan to build a fan gun that will spray the snow farther, and the more time it’s in the air, the more time it has to freeze--ergo, be better snow quality," said Caden.
