BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With Halloween in the rearview, tis the season for gift giving, and before that, gift purchasing— and as it turns out, shoppers in the Greater Boston Area may be sitting on a gold mine for the holidays, something that's getting national recognition.
Top It Off Accessories, a company based in West Roxbury, landed on Oprah Winfrey's holiday gift giving guide "Oprah's Favorite Things 2022" with its Dawn Glove line of products.
“These gloves are from a female-owned business called Top It Off Accessories, and I am going to top them off by giving them with some hand cream. The plaid print is a crowd-pleaser, and you can keep them on while you use your phone thanks to touchscreen capabilities," Winfrey said on her website.
Elizabeth Hoenscheid recounted the moment she and her partner Karena Rasser of Virginia found out their plaid style gloves had made it onto Oprah's Favorite Things.
"I had just walked in, I picked up the mail, I saw it at the bottom and we all just started screeching," Hoenscheid said. Top It Off Accessories was notified they had earned the spot back in August, but were told to keep quiet about it until the list's publication. Hoenscheid says that the heads-up gave them time to boost production and meet an incoming surge in demand.

Now with Winfrey's recommendations out to the public, it's needless to say that the email orders are pouring in. Though the gloves are coming off when it comes to filling those orders, Top It Off Accessories said.
"We had made thousands ahead of time— we're through those thousands and into our next thousands. It's so soft, the colors are so soft, it's a texting glove. We really strive to have an amazing combination of both quality and price," Hoenscheid said.
The Dawn Gloves come in power blue, black & navy, green, and red colors. Top It Off Accessories, founded in 2003, also offers originally designed capes, wraps, hats, and scarfs, just to name a few.
