YARMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The state's Department of Public Health (DPH) is investigating an outbreak of COVID-19 at a West Yarmouth nursing home.

The DPH confirmed it had sent a team to Maplewood at Mayflower Place in West Yarmouth on July 13 to monitor the nursing home. 33 people have tested positive there beginning on July 10, which breaks down to 24 residents and 9 staff members.

The residents that tested positive were offered a monoclonal antibody infusion treatment, and the majority of those who tested positive are asymptomatic or with mild symptoms.

The DPH also said the majority of the residents at the facility were vaccinated, and all of the nine COVID-positive staff members are in stable condition.

As of June 12th, 88% of nursing home residents across the Commonwealth are vaccinated, while around three-quarters of all nursing home staff are vaccinated.
