MANCHESTER, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The first-in-the-nation primary is underway in New Hampshire today, and voters have been sharing what issues are the most important to them as they head to the polls.

WBZ NewsRadio's James Rojas asked different voters in New Hampshire about the key problems the country faces.

“The biggest issue right now is the border crisis and the economy," one person explained.

Another voter agreed. They said they want the country to “get back to securing the border.” They added that “the economy getting better” is another major issue.

One voter said that “the cost of living in general” was concerning. “It’s hard these days. And it shouldn’t be.”

Another person agreed with that concern. “The cost of living, the cost of fuel, all that stuff, it’s getting too expensive.”

For another voter in New Hampshire, they wanted to see new politicians on the ballot. “Trump versus Biden again seems repetitive," they explained.

And New Hampshire’s primary is drawing attention from people outside the state as well, including young people not even old enough to vote.

Coming up from Westchester in New York, a few students were in New Hampshire on Tuesday for an A.P. Government trip “to get experience for political campaigning,” one student said.

The students are not 18 years old yet, so they were not in New Hampshire to vote. But one of them said that they were there with the goal of "getting to experience the government, learning what the government’s about like bureaucracy, and really getting the experience here, during the national primary."

One of the students learned something new while knocking on doors the day before the primary. “I was actually surprised going around yesterday knocking on doors. There’s a lot of voters still undecided on who they want to vote for today. I expected that you would kind of know by now who you were voting for, either Trump or Haley, or if you’re a Democrat.”

“I was surprised by people’s openness to talk to us and hear what we have to say,” one of the students said.
