What Encore Casino Might Be Like After COVID

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Encore Casino Boston Harbor has detailed its new sanitation guidelines for when it opens back up after the state's shutdown is lifted on non-essential business.

According to an Encore spokesperson, preliminary guidelines would mandate all guests have their temperature checked at the door, and that they be provided a face mask and hand sanitizer.

In order to ensure proper social distancing measures are followed, every other gaming table would likely be closed, with fewer seats on offer at the tables that are open.

Valet service may also be suspended, and bell carts would be disinfected after use by each guest. Only four people would be allowed in an elevator at a time, and resort rooms would have disinfectant spray bottle and wipes for guests to use throughout their stay.

According to Encore Boston Harbor, it will remain closed at least through May 18th in accordance with Gov. Baker's extended stay-at-home order during the pandemic.

The company says its reopening guidelines are based on "recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. In addition, Wynn Resorts and Encore have independently engaged as a consultant, Dr. Rebecca Katz, Director of the Center for Global Health Science and Security at Georgetown University Medical Center."

While the casino's reopening guidelines are not yet official, a spokesperson says the health and sanitation plan at Encore Boston Harbor will be very similar to its sister location, Wynn Las Vegas.
