ATTLEBORO, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts college student has been charged with setting a series of fires in her dormitory over the past several months.
Wheaton College senior Janelys Pimentel was held without bail after not guilty-pleas to charges including arson and burning personal property were entered on her behalf at an arraignment Thursday.
Authorities say the 22-year-old Boston resident was arrested after security cameras at the school in Norton caught her setting a fire with paper in a hallway water fountain at about 3:45 a.m. Thursday. Police say she then started knocking on doors to wake up other students. No one was hurt.
Authorities say she has set several other fires dating to November.
Pimentel's lawyer declined to comment. Her parents refused to talk outside of court.
