Why Fall Is The Best Season To Grow Grass

BOSTON WBZ NewsRadio) — Leaves might steal the show during fall, but for landscapers, it’s all about grass.

Miachael Coldbur, owner of 5 Elements Property Maintenance and Construction, told WBZ NewsRadio that now is the perfect time to grow and prepare your lawn for the spring.

“[With] the cold temperatures, we can get a lot of moisture and capture a lot of that moisture where it doesn’t evaporate off like it does in the summer and spring,” he said.

The combination of warm soil and cool air in autumn creates the perfect ecosystem for grass roots to grow, according to Coldbur.

“You can get all your good growth and all your nice nutrients kicking off,” Colburn continued. “You don’t have to worry about the heat.”

He added that raking the fall leaves, adding fertilizer, and keeping a balanced pH are all ways to promote longer-lasting growth.

“Fertilizers are something that typically professionals put down, [so] you’re going to achieve the same beautiful green grass,” he said.
